Lainey Wilson pulls back the curtain on her rise to country stardom in the documentary Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool, which Netflix has acquired for an April 22 global release. The film was directed by Amy Scott and produced by Teton Ridge Entertainment, Sandbox Studios and MakeMake.

Per its logline, Keepin’ Country Cool follows Wilson as she “redefines what it means to be a modern country star, proving that staying true to yourself can lead to major success. The film captures a pivotal moment in her career, exploring the country icon’s personal journey and chronicling her struggles and triumphs as she captivates fans on stage across the country.”

“I couldn’t be more excited that this documentary is going to be on Netflix,” says Wilson, who broke out with her platinum 2022 album Bell Bottom Country and has gone on to win 16 Academy of Country Music awards. “This was such a special project to make, and I hope that folks who watch it see that no dream is too big and that staying true to who you are will always lead you exactly where you’re meant to be.”

Scott previously directed documentaries on Counting Crows and Sheryl Crow. Of the new endeavor, she says, “what began as a fever dream project became an intimate journey with one of the most dynamic and fascinating artists of today. Lainey’s story is deeply personal, wildly inspiring and rooted in authenticity, and I can’t imagine a better platform to share it with the world.”

Wilson is about to begin a tour of Australia and New Zealand and has a mixture of festival appearances and opening slots for Chris Stapleton’s summer U.S. stadium tour on the books through August.
