Dutch-born, Nashville-based DJ, producer, and songwriter MOONLGHT is influencing the evolution of electronic music by blending classic nostalgia with cutting-edge production. Known offstage as acclaimed music talent Stefan Schonewille, he has quickly emerged as one of EDM’s most exciting new voices. MOONLGHT explores creative boundaries and offers a fresh take on modern electronic music with each release and performance.

What sets MOONLGHT apart isn’t just his ability to make people dance, it’s his vision. He transforms iconic classic rock and country records into high-energy dance anthems that bridge generations. His recent remix of Trace Adkins’ “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk blends country grit with EDM energy, and its strong reception proves his talent for turning any classic into a rhythmic dance anthem.

His mission? To connect people through timeless songs reimagined with a modern twist.

MOONLGHT’s breakout came in 2024 with a series of iconic TikTok flips. His remix of “Free Bird” went viral, followed by a rework of “There She Goes” (with CYRIL and The La’s), which gained significant traction on TikTok and drew widespread attention on the platform’s viral charts. That momentum translated to tens of millions of streams and landed him major festival spots at Stagecoach, Beyond Wonderland, and EDC Las Vegas, marking a true breakthrough year.

“One standout moment that sticks with me is when a fan recognized me in person before I’d even played a show as MOONLGHT,” he said during an interview. “That was a turning point where I realized, ‘Okay, this is starting to become something real.”

With musical roots shaped by legends like John Fogerty, Jimi Hendrix, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, MOONLGHT channels classic influence through a future-forward lens. As a member of the songwriting collective Pacific, Schonewille has earned billions of streams behind the scenes. But through MOONLGHT, he’s building something uniquely personal.

Following his recent move to Nashville, a packed festival schedule, and new music on the horizon, MOONLGHT is more focused than ever. “I’m feeling the best I’ve ever felt,” he shares. “I want people to hear these songs and remember the good times. Or better yet, create new ones.”
