Moonage Daydream, a new David Bowie film, is set to release shortly via BMG and Live Nation Productions. This will be the first film to officially be sanctioned by Bowie’s estate, including never before seen footage of Bowie’s life between 1970 to 1977.
Filmmaker Brett Morgen served as director for the film, crafting a cinematic experience that showcases the depth of Bowie’s music and art. Songs reportedly used in the film include “Changes, “Starman,” Ziggy Stardust,” “The Jean Genie,” “All The Young Dudes,” “Life on Mars,” “Rebel Rebel,” “Fame,” “Young Americans,” and “Golden Years.”
“This has been a five-year labor of love to honor one of the greatest song catalogs in music history. BMG is proud to build on our long-term relationship with the David Bowie estate working hand-in-hand with our partners Live Nation Productions to bring Brett Morgen’s vision to the big screen,” said BMG Global Repertoire Fred Casimir of the project.
Moonage Daydream is set to be released in IMAX in select markets with streaming rights also being licensed to HBO and HBO Max. This is Brett Morgan’s first film in a multi-picture deal between him and BMG for IMAX productions. BMG recently put out a slew of music content as they are responsible for projects such as DIO: Dreamers Never Die, David Crosby: Remember My Name and Joan Jett’s documentary Bad Reputation.
