Name Angelo Moore a.k.a. Dr. Mad Vibe
Best known for Fishbone Soldier #1… a poet, an artist, a musician, actor, entertainer, purifier of truth. I’m here to hold up a mirror to you to look at your soul, unfiltered and with love. Sometimes the truth is ugly, but we can make it beautiful with art.
Current city Los Angeles, California.
Really want to be in I love Japan and France. Painting, performing and enjoy life. Shiawase and joie de vivre.
Excited about We are working on a new Fishbone album. The last release Stockholm Syndrome was out first full length in 20 years and are so humbled with the reception it got from fans and press. The comparisons to the classic work we put out decades ago was reassuring we still got it and got something to say to the people.
My current music collection has a lot of Reggae, jazz, and soul.
And a little bit of Bad Bunny.
Preferred format I actually still have a boombox and I connect my phone with CDs and thumb drives. You know I love wax. Streaming is unavoidable in 2026. I personally hate the business behind it, but I love the technology. Since we own our masters in new material, it’s better and we renegotiated with Sony to get a better deal on our catalog. It’s still not huge, but better than nothing. You can’t be in this without it, but it would be better if it was made to be fairer to artists and writers. I recommend buying wax and CDs direct from the artists and going to Bandcamp and buying quality downloads. If you are going to use a streaming service, use the better paying platforms like Qobuz, Tidal, and Apple Music (in that order).
5 Albums I Can’t Live Without:
1
Cow Fingers and Mosquito Pie, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins

A true artist and performer. Not only in the recorded performances, but in being one of the first Black artists to bring a theatrical approach to his live shows with props, which lead to performance art and influenced punk theatrics and [giving it] all on the stage. Give it your all and never phoning it in.
I take this approach as a performer… if it’s in front of 20,000 people or two people, you will get my all.
Did I mention the songs? Just look at the track list and tell me this isn’t a compilation masterpiece.
2
The Best of Spike Jones, Spike Jones

Musical anarchy. That was Spike Jones. Spike took music and threw it in the kitchen sink. Nothing was left behind. Taking music and not having any rules. If you listen to songs I write, I embrace this method of chaos to sections of my work. On our last album Stockholm Syndrome, there is a song called “Adolescent Regressive Behavior” that takes you on a journey of chaos to a breather to chaos. That’s the world. Let’s put it in music.
3
Star Time, James Brown

Star Time is a 4-disc box set. This is important because you can’t define James Brown on one CD. James’ life was a series of movements. He’s the Godfather because he saw no limits, moved the goalposts to challenge not only himself, but his band and the audience. James never let you settle in. Starting takes you from the beginning with “Please, Please, Please” to the hits “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag” to social awareness of Black pride and revolution with “Say It Loud — I’m Black And I’m Proud” when it needed it most. Shit…James Brown was the only person that could calm Boston after Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated when all could have gone bad. A man, his music, and his message showed how strong music can be. Fishbone carry’s that mission. We say it loud. We are Black and we are proud. Fuck racism!!!!

The Jungle Book, Original Soundtrack

I love cartoons. Always have. The Jungle Book connected with me as a kid. The story and the songs. The music itself was a combination of jazz, swing, and vaudeville. This music (well before Prince) became my DNA. You watch me sing and perform, you could animate me and I’d be in The Jungle Book dancing and singing with Baloo and King Louie. Always embrace your childhood and don’t ever lose that joy.
5
(GI), The Germs

The Germs were pure chaos. Both in performance, recording, and like nothing else. They played to their own best. Tribal at times and sloppy at times. The music was pure vibe and made your body and mind just react. No thinking, just feeling… they influenced a whole generation and scene. One album and a bunch of 7”. When I heard them, it just drew me in and I knew it was OK to just be me, let go and feel it and give it all I got.
Can I add one more?
Roir (Cassette), Bad Brains

Two words: Game changer.
