Visionary DJ, producer and Crosstown Rebels label boss Damian Lazarus has been a key figure in shaping today’s dance music scene. He’s the founder of Day Zero festival and the Get Lost and Rebel Rave parties in Tulum, Israel, Miami, and Mykonos, and is also launching a weekly residency at Hï Ibiza this summer along with Black Coffee and other cutting-edge electronic artists. He just dropped a new track with Gorgon City and recently scored his first film, Beijing Spring. We caught up with Damian ahead of his set in the Yuma tent to talk about his fluid approach to live sets and what he’s cooking up for this summer and beyond.

“I’m not sure where to specifically classify my sound. I come from a really cosmic, modal background. So I like spacey, maybe a little spiritual. Maybe a connection with a higher power in the music, you know? I tend to never play anything to just make people go ‘whooahh” – I like to kinda build my sets up. I think it’s quite psychedelic. Definitely quite trippy and deep. Kinda fits somewhere around house and techno but I’ve been known to drop other styles in my DJ sets, so it’s very difficult to classify. It’s just Lazarus, that’s it.” -Damian Lazarus
