Gorillaz have gathered another highly eclectic cast of collaborators for their ninth album, The Mountain, which will be released March 20 on the Damon Albarn-led band’s new KONG label. Lead track “The Happy Dictator” features sibling pop auteurs Sparks and can be sampled below.

Among the other artists lending a hand on the 15-track The Mountain are IDLES, former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, Ajay Prasanna, Amaan & Ayaan Ali Bangash, Anoushka Shankar, Asha Bhosle, Asha Puthli, Bizarrap, The Roots’ Black Thought, Super Furry Animals’ Gruff Rhys, Jalen Ngonda, Kara Jackson, Omar Souleyman, the Clash’s Paul Simonon, Trueno and Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def).

The voices of departed musicians such as Bobby Womack, De La Soul’s Dave Jolicoeur, the Fall’s Mark E. Smith, Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen, rapper Proof and even actor Dennis Hopper are also represented on the project.

The Mountain was produced by Gorillaz, James Ford, Samuel Egglenton and Remi Kabaka Jr., and recorded in London, India, Syria, Los Angeles and Miami. The album’s lyrics are sung in Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish and Yoruba.

Gorillaz will support The Mountain with a U.K. and Ireland arena tour next spring, beginning March 21 in Manchester. The group will also stage its first stadium concert at London’s Tottenham Hotspur on June 20, with opening sets from Sparks and Trueno.
